Linux Counter Project PDF Print E-mail

I've just received a reminder to use or lose my Linux Counter registration (#158211 since you ask) and logging on tells me that I registered on 22 Dec 1999, about 4 or 5 months after I'd started with SuSE 6.something.

I read on the site somewhere, somewhen, that #1 had been reserved for Linus Torvalds, but to date had declined to take it up, that text seems to have disappeared.

Linux Counter has been run by a nonprofit membership organisation since May 1999 but was started in 1993. The site seems to get updated about once every two years and in 2005 predicted a worldwide install base of 29 000 000 with the highest density installed base being on Antarctica (perhaps even the penguins are penguinistas)

Get your registration here you know you want to.
