The Open Source Consortium has slammed the latest attempt to smuggle Software Patents into European law. The EPLA (European Patent Litigation Agreement) will have the effect of allowing large companies to enforce software patents through expensive lawsuits; the very thing the European Parliament voted against so resoundingly in July 2005. If enacted, the EPLA proposals will make life very difficult for smaller innovative IT companies. The OSC supports the FFII campaign against the EPLA proposals and urges all MEPs to vote for the FFII-supported amendments on 12th October. More information can be found at http://a2e.de/ffii/epla.
