Coverage for OSC
The Inquirer has published an article by Mark Ballard about the OSC's letter to the OU on Office 2007, and The Register has an article by Kelly Fiveash about the OSC's letter to the BBC on Windows 7.
There has also been a general widening of the potential audience for DRM-free BBC material as reported by IT Pro Portal.
The Inquirer has published an article "University challenged to ditch Microsoft: Flunks answer" [link (new page)] by Mark Ballard that extensively describes the OSC's complaint [link].
The Register has published an article "Open source fanciers finger Beeb's Win 7 'sales presentation': Takes a dig at the Rory and Rob show" [link (new page)] by Kelly Fiveash that mentions the OSC's complaint [link] and the BBC's response [link].
IT Pro Portal has an article "iPlayer Now Supports WMA, Brings BBC Content to PMPs and Smartphones" [link (new page)] by Desire Athow that references an interesting blog entry "BBC iPlayer goes portable" [link (new page)] by Antony Rose (Head of Online Media Group, BBC Future Media & Technology). Although the blog entry attracts a lot of criticism from people suggesting alternatives, and from those who wanted this all done yesterday, this is a widening of the technological alternatives for accessing BBC content.
